Always good to read thoughts from someone on your side of the Atlantic which echo our own on the subject of family transport. I’m sure you did experience frustrations with travel over here in Europe, but there are some sacrifices of personal ‘freedom’ (read ’selfishness’?) to be made in the interests of better resource economy.

I’ve had a couple of depressing conversations with economists, or those claiming to understand economics, lately which deny the desirability or possibility or simple flat need for change in the way such things are regulated. As if human desires were the only thing which operated, and self denial was just silly.
